Get Out and Vote!
If the Republicans win by any significant majority across the country, or even just in selected states, we will have begun an irreversible slide into christofascism, with a full fascist takeover on the Republican wingnut agenda for 2025. If this election looks like an uphill battle against the forces of darkness, it will only get worse if the Democrats lose.
So let’s take our inspiration today and henceforth from the Ukrainians, and the women of Iran and their male supporters, and the Brazilians who re-elected Lula. And the countless Americans who fought, and not infrequently died, for the right to vote, to speak in public without fear, to organize, to love and marry anyone we choose, and in general to exercise their — and our — human rights.
Please stop reading this and go perform your most basic civic duty: Vote. It’s not only the most important thing you’ll do today, it’s the most important thing you’ll do this year.
