William Shakespeare: from King Henry IV, Part 1 (1597-98)

A note found in Falstaff's pocket reveals that the Anchovy was served with strong drink after dinner. This represents the first known mention of the Anchovy in English literature.—Alice, the Anchovy Schoolmarm
